Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Port Engineer to oversee the maintenance and repair of our fleet of vessels. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our marine transportation services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of maintenance personnel to ensure the timely completion of vessel repairs and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement standards and best practices for maintenance and repair operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, shipyards, and suppliers to optimize fleet efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Negotiate prices and timelines for parts and repairs.
  • Authorize and approve on-site repair costs up to $25,000.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5-8 years of maintenance experience, with at least 3 years in maintenance management.
  • Valid driver's license and TWIC card.
  • Knowledge of barge tank transfer operations, boat construction, engine repairs, and river systems.
  • Knowledge of USCG, OSHA, and MSDS regulations.
  • Ability to supervise others, facilitate teamwork, and communicate effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in fleet maintenance or boat/barge design and construction in marine transportation or shipyard environment.
  • Previous boat maintenance competence, extensive structural design of towing vessels, and propulsion competence in marine transportation or shipyard environment.
  • Excellent computer skills and understanding of office productivity software.
