Job Title: Assistant Port Engineer

Ocean Shipholdings Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Port Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. As a key member of our marine operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of ocean-going ships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with fleet special projects, including the development and execution of TRANSALT initiatives
  • Monitor and analyze ship performance data to identify areas for improvement
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of our Integrated Management System (IMS) documentation
  • Assist with marine engineering projects, including overhauls and maintenance repairs
  • Prepare contract work specifications and cost estimates for repair, overhaul, conversion, or construction of ocean-going ships
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and vessel management
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in the US commercial or Government maritime industry in either a shore-side or shipboard engineering role
  • Knowledge of marine industry and proficiency in ship operations and maintenance
  • Prior knowledge and experience with shipboard electrical distribution systems
  • Familiarity with marine/mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering disciplines
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering and naval architecture principles and practices as they pertain to ocean-going ships
  • Marine Engineering Degree is preferred
  • An active Secret Security Clearance or US Citizen with a valid U.S. passport is required
