SVS Group is seeking a skilled Tool Design Engineer to join our team in the W. Phoenix area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost-effective tool designs, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Apply algebraic and geometric formulas, as well as standard tool engineering concepts, to design and develop tool configurations.
  • Utilize standard vendor-supplied tooling components in tool designs, ensuring efficient and effective manufacturing processes.
  • Lead the development of new manufacturing processes, create Bill of Materials (BOMs) and routers, design and deploy manufacturing tools and fixtures.
  • Collect and analyze process data to improve tooling and manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement.
  • Plan and execute new manufacturing process projects, ensuring seamless transfer to production operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or certified journeyman tool maker.
  • At least five years of hands-on tooling experience, with sheet metal fabrication experience a plus.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret work instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Proficiency in applying GD&T effectively to tool designs.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Solidworks or similar CAD software and MS Office products.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and collaborate with others to improve tool design concepts.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to efficiently work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and rapid tool prototyping a plus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The work environment for this position is within an office setting, with limited exposure to the factory environment to review the status of routers, BOMs, and station plans as needed.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to use standard measuring equipment, such as calipers and dial indicators.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
