Position Summary:

The Youth Development Specialist plays a crucial role in providing supportive services that foster the abilities and developmental skills of youth. This role involves teaching essential skills such as anger management, social interaction, and self-regulation as part of individualized service plans.

Responsibilities include implementing program goals that emphasize a strengths-based, client-centered approach to help youth achieve their personal objectives.


Qualifications:
Must fulfill State of Oregon requirements and possess MHACBO certification as a "Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA)."

A Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field or a combination of relevant work experience, education, and training is required.


Experience:
Demonstrated ability to identify key events impacting youth.
Previous experience working with adolescents is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide therapeutic interventions as outlined in service plans.

Conduct individual and group skill training in areas such as self-care, social skills, and stress management.

Participate in clinical consultations and staff meetings to address program and youth needs.

Assist in crisis management as necessary, adhering to established protocols.

Support meal preparation and household tasks, ensuring a safe and clean environment.

Accompany youth to medical appointments and maintain professional boundaries.

Assist with admission and discharge processes, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.

Maintain up-to-date clinical records in compliance with agency policies and regulations.

Ensure the safety of youth and property, understanding emergency procedures.

Coordinate with team members for effective program operation.

Administer medications and provide transportation services as needed.


Certificates and Licenses:
Valid Oregon driver's license and insurable driving record required.

Personal automobile insurance is necessary for transporting clients or conducting agency business.

Must meet requirements for MHACBO QMHA Certification and maintain it throughout employment.
