Job Summary

BB&E, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Civil Engineer to support the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Architectural Engineering Services Unit (AESU) and Facilities Management Unit (FMU). The successful candidate will provide architectural, engineering, and planning (AEP) services, including design and engineering, on-site AE services, and project management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with FBI peer colleagues, project managers, and other personnel/contractors on projects as necessary.
  • Provide miscellaneous services requiring proficiency in Microsoft software tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint, and AutoCAD.
  • Author and assist in the development of reports and studies.
  • Exhibit good customer service skills and be a cooperative team player.
  • Multitask and take on multiple projects or assignments simultaneously.
  • Collaborate and assist in resolving critical and possibly controversial issues with a multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers, and federal agency clients.
  • Review proposals, documents, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and ability to meet FBI Program of Requirements (POR) requirements.
  • Submit technical comments in required format and provide back-check of all comments and a report to the FBI containing all comments and responses.
  • Review plans, design documents, and construction documents for compliance with the POR and local codes and ordinances.
  • Provide on-site field survey measurements and verification and provide recommendations based on observations.
  • Perform construction administration duties, including reviewing and answering requests for information (RFI), reviewing submittals, reviewing and producing field reports, walking the site and verifying accuracy and compliance of construction with drawings and POR requirements, participating in creation and closeout of punch-list, and more.
  • Assist in the preparation of scope of work (SOW) for design-bid-build and design-build procurements, including creating performance-based vs. prescriptive requirements.
  • Assist with preparation of SOWs, cost estimates, and designs to provide engineered solutions to a myriad of civil engineering tasks, including roadway and pavement design, site drainage and stormwater management plans, sanitary sewer and water distribution, erosion control, etc.
  • Provide document review of campus design and construction standards.
  • Provide support in developing and evaluating project schedules.
  • Understand and implement the site security requirements as defined by the FBI's Physical Security Unit (PSU).
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship and a Secret Security Clearance (NACI) at time of hire and ability to obtain a Top-Secret level security clearance is required.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Software: Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project software tools, SharePoint, FIT, cost estimation software tools, and AutoCAD is required.
  • Self-Starter: Highly motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years' experience in civil engineering.
  • Education: Graduate of an ABET (The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.) accredited Engineering college curriculum (4-year degree).
