Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Driver to join our team at Mead Lumber. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for delivering merchandise to customer jobsites and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials.

Responsibilities
  • Product Knowledge: Develop a thorough understanding of our products, procedures, and customer service philosophy.
  • Loading and Delivery: Load, organize, and secure trucks according to sales invoices, and deliver materials to customer jobsites in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Ensure the accuracy of each load leaving the yard and maintain a high level of attention to detail throughout the delivery process.
  • Communication: Record delivery information on sales invoices and relay messages from customers on jobsites.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain pre-trip inspections daily on all trucks, forklifts, and delivery vehicles.
  • Yard Procedures: Follow all yard loading and delivery, and yard security procedures.
  • Merchandise Returns: Accurately record all merchandise returns on a credit memo.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma required.
  • Physical Demands: Physical strength to lift and carry pounds, ability to stand/walk for 4-10 hours daily, and ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Operational Skills: Ability to operate a truck-mounted forklift, office equipment, and other necessary tools.
  • License and Insurance: Valid Class A driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a good driving record.
  • Math Skills: Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
