Role Summary:

In this pivotal role, you will take charge of the design and integration of HVAC systems for various projects. Your primary responsibilities will include planning, organizing, and supervising the execution of Design/Build initiatives, ensuring that all activities align with our objectives for cost efficiency, quality assurance, equipment utilization, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design intricate HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and controls, for Design/Build projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and national regulations, as well as industry best practices.
  • Actively seek and secure new business opportunities by fostering and maintaining robust client relationships, delivering informative presentations, and demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of project plans and specifications.
  • Prepare project estimates, budgets, and timelines, playing a crucial role in contract negotiations. Ensure compliance through participation in design meetings, site visits, and regular progress updates.
  • Facilitate meetings to address design challenges with clients and other disciplines, overseeing the submission of plans for regulatory reviews.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations of shop drawings, monitor submittal progress, and manage distribution to relevant stakeholders, including equipment suppliers, ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Supervise drafting activities for Design/Build projects and provide assistance to project managers on design-assist initiatives and coordination efforts at construction sites.
  • Manage the administrative components of contracts during the design phase and assist in procuring equipment and materials for Design/Build projects, ensuring compliance with design standards.
  • Continuously improve internal design standards, specifications, and quality programs, while contributing to business development efforts.
  • Stay informed about relevant building codes and regulations, reviewing and analyzing changes in HVAC-related codes, and disseminating updates to relevant departments.
  • Contribute to LEED-certified projects, including documentation, project ranking, and credits, as well as participating in verification and construction activities.
  • Maintain a high level of expertise in the HVAC field through ongoing education, training, and active involvement in industry organizations.
  • Conduct field assessments as necessary to evaluate actual site conditions and ensure the designed systems are compatible with the building structure.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and social events as required.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Work Environment:

  • Standard office environment with tasks involving regular computer use, including sitting or standing. Occasional physical activities such as bending, twisting, and light lifting may be required.
  • Job site visits may be necessary, requiring the use of a personal vehicle.
  • Fieldwork on construction sites in various weather conditions to assess site conditions and resolve coordination issues with trades.
  • Ability to navigate ladders and steps on site is essential, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Professional engineering license or HVAC designer certification in the relevant state is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in HVAC system design.
  • Experience in leading diverse project teams and managing projects.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the commissioning process for buildings; certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, NAVIS works, REVIT, REVIT MEP, or other relevant software, with a preference for REVIT proficiency.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Comfortable managing a diverse range of project budgets.
