Pediatric Speech and Language Specialist

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Pediatric Speech and Language Specialist is tasked with delivering outpatient clinical services in speech and language pathology to customer-owners within center-based environments. This role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and formulating a comprehensive plan of care along with treatment strategies aimed at addressing communication and swallowing challenges, whether on an individual basis or in group settings.


Essential Qualifications:
  • A degree in Speech Language Pathology from a recognized accredited institution, acknowledged by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA); or a Doctoral degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Must hold a valid license as a Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Alaska.

At least one (1) year of experience working with children who have special needs, developmental delays, or disabilities is required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.

Additional certifications such as ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO, and PALS may be required based on specialty and relevant scope of practice.

Positions classified as Health Care Personnel (HCP) necessitate documentation of the following immunizations prior to starting work: MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella), Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B, Influenza, T-dap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis), and COVID-19 vaccination.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must meet the standards outlined in SCF's Background Check Policy, which includes compliance with Alaska Barrier Crimes/Conditions and Background Checks regulations, the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, the Crime Control Act of 1990, and the exclusion provisions of the Social Security Act.
