Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at the Long Island State Veterans Home. As a valued member of our care team, you will provide high-quality care to our residents, promoting their dignity, comfort, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend to daily living activities, personal, hygienic, and simple human needs to maintain a comfortable and respectful environment for residents.
  • Assist with moving, positioning, lifting, and transporting residents using various lifts and aids to ensure their comfort and safety.
  • Engage with residents through conversation, listening, and encouraging participation in treatment activities to promote positive attitudes and outcomes.
  • Transport residents and supplies as needed.
  • Maintain residents' rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties related to direct care to ensure a clean, sanitary, and orderly environment.
  • Participate in required quarterly in-service education to maintain certification and meet regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • NYS Nurse Aide Certification.
  • One year of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
Working Conditions

Working conditions may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids, and other unpleasant elements. May be exposed to and required to handle unpredictable, emergency, and crisis situations. Irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries may be experienced.

What We Offer

The Long Island State Veterans Home is a tobacco-free environment. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair. The work schedules begin on Thursday and end on Wednesday of each week. Essential position with a 24/7 skilled nursing facility environment.
