Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Water/Wastewater Operator to join our team at the Town of Clarkdale. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of our wastewater and water system facilities and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater and water treatment plants, collection systems, and distribution systems.
  • Conduct inspections of work in progress and verify completeness for compliance with safety requirements, department policies, and state and federal regulations.
  • Collect and analyze laboratory samples for water quality, and operate, monitor, and maintain pumps, blowers, chlorinators, filters, and other water/wastewater treatment equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly regulatory reports and other reports related to water/wastewater treatment and distribution/collection systems.
  • Respond to and resolve citizen inquiries and complaints related to the operation of the water/wastewater treatment and distribution/collection systems.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Arizona Operator Certification for Wastewater Treatment Plant and/or Collection Systems, and/or Arizona Operator Certification for Water Treatment and Water Distribution desirable.
  • Knowledge of modern principles and practices of municipal water and wastewater works, technical resource documents for water and wastewater treatment and collection activities, and materials, methods, and tools used in the maintenance of water and sewer systems.
  • Ability to work effectively and safely around chemicals used to collect samples and in the treatment of water and/or wastewater, and to operate equipment including vehicles as needed to perform repairs, maintenance, and construction activities of the Town's water/wastewater systems.
Working Conditions

The work environment is regularly performed in both an inside environment and outside weather conditions which can include rain and extreme heat, near moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment, and there is occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and to vibration.
