About the Role

The Climate Finance Communications Manager will play a key role in managing communications for a portfolio of philanthropic initiatives focused on unlocking billions of dollars in sustainable finance to support the world's transition to net-zero emissions.

This role is responsible for successfully executing integrated communications strategies to support cross-cutting global programs that are coordinating efforts across all sectors of the financial system to accelerate the transition to a net-zero global economy, catalyzing decarbonization across heavy-emitting sectors, developing capital market infrastructure and solutions to help address climate data challenges across the global economy, and tackling the challenge of unlocking climate finance at scale in emerging markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day media relations and external communications for the GFANZ Secretariat
  • Lead the execution of the strategic communications plan, including preparing and reviewing high-quality communications materials
  • Work closely with GFANZ Secretariat leadership and communications to identify key messages and develop effective communication plans
  • Provide workflow coordination for the environment communications team, including owning and updating internal trackers
  • Establish and update crisis communication plans to swiftly address potential issues and manage the organization's reputation effectively

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in climate finance and/or financial policy communications
  • Proven experience in strategic communications, media relations, and crisis communication at a financial institution, on a campaign, in government, or at a global communications agency
  • Comfort and understanding of domestic and international public affairs and politics as they relate to climate and the environment
  • Strong relationship-building, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking capabilities
