- This role is essential in supporting the Quality Assurance Lab Manager and Lab Supervisor in executing necessary tasks to evaluate fuzzy, processed, and carryover cottonseed against established quality benchmarks.
- The position involves sampling and testing cottonseed during two distinct periods of the agricultural cycle.
- The initial phase focuses on collecting samples from all returned processed seed at the distribution center during the summer months.
- Emphasis will be placed on the accurate sampling of bulk boxes and bags of cottonseed.
- Sampling activities will predominantly occur at the distribution center.
- The Quality Assurance Specialist will adhere to directives from supervisors regarding proper sampling techniques for processed seed lots and visual inspections for quality concerns.
- The subsequent phase involves sampling and testing truckloads of fuzzy cottonseed within a laboratory environment.
- Key responsibilities include conducting laboratory tests, which may encompass Moisture, Temperature, Free Fatty Acid, Genetic Purity, Visual Mechanical Damage, Adventitious Presence, Seed Count, pH, Seed Appearance, and Warm and Cool Germinations.
Qualifications:
- A background in Biology is required.
- Prior laboratory or agricultural experience is preferred.
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM (with potential for Saturday half-day shifts).
