The Heavy Equipment Operator - Crawler Crane is responsible for operating a crawler crane in support of Marine construction projects. This role requires a high level of expertise and attention to detail to ensure safe and efficient operation of the equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Crawler Crane: Safely operate a crawler crane in support of construction activities, including moving forms, rebar, and other materials.
- Pile Driving Operations: Operate the crane during pile driving operations, including impact or vibratory driving.
- Assist with Project Tasks: Assist in other essential facets of the project when crane operations are not needed.
- Equipment Inspections and Maintenance: Perform daily inspections of the crane, rigging, barge, and associated equipment, and complete inspection logs. Perform basic maintenance tasks, including changing oil and filters, fueling, lubricating gears and bearings, etc.
- Rigging and Supplies: Maintain inventory of rigging supplies and repair and splice cables and towing ropes.
- Mooring Operations: Secure mooring lines to barges or tugs as needed.
- JSAs and Compliance: Participate in writing JSAs prior to performing work activity and execute work accordingly. Ensure compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.
- Safe Work Practices: Practice safe work standards and promote an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience operating lattice boom crawler cranes.
- Pile Driving Experience: Pile driving experience required.
- Licensing: NCCO license with lattice boom required.
- Friction Crane Experience: Friction crane experience required.
- Marine Experience: Marine experience preferred.
- Mechanical Dredging Experience: Mechanical dredging experience preferred.
- Communication Skills: Ability to give and receive, understand, respond and follow verbal and written communications and instructions, including the ability to read/write machinery requirements, document compliance records, and receive and respond to hand/radio signals from deck crew.
- Teamwork: Ability to communicate, take direction well, and work cooperatively with other colleagues.
- Crane Operator Certification: Valid Crane Operator certification (such as NCCCO) with specialization required in Lattice Boom cranes (LBC) required.
- Picture Identification: Valid picture identification required.
- Transportation Workers Identification Card: Valid Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) or eligibility is required for this position.

Physical Demands- Outdoor Work: The employee must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on marine vessels in water.
- Heavy Equipment Operation: The employee must be able to safely execute duties in and around heavy equipment/large machinery in marine dredging and marine construction job sites.
- Personal Protective Equipment: The employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, respirators, etc.).
