Job Summary

The MLS Lab Coordinator is a key member of our laboratory team, responsible for assisting the Supervisor or Manager with daily department oversight and leadership of laboratory personnel. This role requires a strong background in medical technology and laboratory operations, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest level of quality and safety in our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily department operations, including budget management, event reporting, and corrective action.
  • Support the development and implementation of laboratory processes and procedures to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support and training to laboratory staff, including students and new hires.
  • Contribute to quality management and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in leadership courses and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science from an accredited institution.
  • Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Scientist certification or equivalent, with maintenance of certification required.
  • Two years of clinical laboratory experience, with expertise in laboratory systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading, training, and educating staff at all levels.
  • Supervisory experience, with ability to develop and implement department initiatives.
Physical Requirements
  • Interact with others, requiring verbal communication.
  • Operate complex and delicate lab equipment, requiring manual dexterity.
  • See and read lab equipment, monitors, and documents.
  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer or other equipment.
