Incentives:

This assistance is paid in six installments over a three-year commitment.

Role Summary:

The Nurse Anesthetist is responsible for administering anesthesia to patients undergoing various medical procedures, including surgical, obstetrical, and diagnostic interventions. This role operates under the guidelines set forth by the Department of Surgical Services and the medical oversight of attending anesthesiologists.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments, including patient history and physical examinations, and develop comprehensive anesthesia care plans.
  2. Document assessments and care plans accurately, ensuring clear communication of risks and benefits to patients and their families.
  3. Participate in ongoing education and professional development, contributing to institutional committees and enhancing the clinical learning environment for peers.
  4. Engage in performance improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement in patient outcomes and assisting in data collection for quality improvement efforts.
  5. Maintain accurate anesthesia records and related documentation in compliance with departmental standards.
  6. Administer anesthesia safely, following established protocols, and ensure a secure environment for patients throughout the procedure.

Qualifications:

Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program recognized by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).

Licensure/Certification: Certification or eligibility for certification by the AANA and a valid Registered Nurse license in the state of North Carolina.

Experience: No prior experience is required for this position.

Skills and Abilities: Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and a commitment to patient safety and quality care.
