Position Overview

A Sign-On Bonus of up to $5,000 will be offered, depending on experience level. The first payment will be issued upon commencement of employment, with a second payment following 6 months of satisfactory performance.

Role Summary

The Hydrocarbon Quality Inspector is responsible for conducting evaluations of bulk liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon or chemical cargo, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. This role includes gauging, sampling, and reconciling transfers from various vessels to shore facilities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts physical sampling, measurement, and temperature assessments of vessel and shore tanks using methods aligned with company and American Petroleum Institute (API) protocols.
  • Adheres to safety standards while executing tasks efficiently, following established technical processes and methodologies.
  • Calculates and documents quantities of transferred hydrocarbons, ensuring complete reconciliation.
  • Completes necessary reports and documentation utilizing SGS proprietary systems.
  • Collaborates with client representatives, customs officials, vessel crew, and shore facility personnel.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with office staff regarding job status and any issues that arise.
  • Stays informed and compliant with the latest industry standards, client requirements, and SGS internal policies.
  • Operates with the highest ethical standards, in line with the SGS Code of Integrity, including adherence to all safety practices.
  • Assists with additional branch duties as needed, including back-office support and maintenance tasks.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • 6 months to 2 years of relevant industry experience (Preferred)
  • Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License (Required)
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) (Preferred)
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License and TWIC card throughout employment (Required)
  • International Federation of Inspection Agencies (IFIA) Certification (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
