Sovah Health - Danville is seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our Behavioral Health team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in evaluating and providing therapeutic activities for patients in our Behavioral Health Unit.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patients and develop treatment plans in conjunction with primary care counselors using therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities.
- Conduct assessments and establish recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.
- Coordinate therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization.
- Implement treatment plans using appropriate modalities and evaluate patient progress.
- Monitor and modify treatment plans as needed and seek consultation as necessary.
- Plan and/or assist with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting.
- Provide patients and their families with information regarding leisure lifestyles and create awareness of recreational resources in their community.
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related therapeutic discipline.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns, including weekends and holidays.
- License from the Virginia State Board to practice in area of specialty preferred.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required within one year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- One (1) year of experience in a psychiatric or healthcare setting preferred.
