Job Overview

Soliant is seeking a dedicated and skilled Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction to students with special needs. The ideal candidate will foster academic achievement and personal development, collaborating closely with fellow educators, parents, and support staff to develop and implement effective individualized education programs (IEPs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Deliver direct instruction and support in various educational settings, including inclusive classrooms and resource rooms.
  • Modify curriculum and instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and disabilities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting teaching strategies based on data and student performance.
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians about student progress and IEP goals.
  • Keep accurate and comprehensive records of student progress, IEPs, and other necessary documentation.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with the latest best practices in special education.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Missouri teaching certificate in Special Education (K-12).
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
  • Expertise in IEP development and implementation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of educators and support staff.
  • Experience working with students with various disabilities is preferred.
Licensure and Certification Requirements
  • Missouri Initial Professional Certificate (IPC) or Continuous Professional Certificate (CPC) in Special Education.
  • Certification in Mild/Moderate Cross-Categorical Disabilities (K-12) or Severe Developmental Disabilities (K-12).
  • Additional certifications as mandated by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Proficiency with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
  • Knowledge of behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavioral supports.
  • Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or other specialized instructional methodologies.
