Position Overview:

  • The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals, including modified and therapeutic diets, in accordance with the facility's menu and nutritional guidelines.
  • Food preparation must comply with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as our internal policies and procedures, ensuring high-quality food service is maintained.
  • The Cook plays a key role in ensuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning practices are adhered to.
  • Attention to detail, professionalism, and teamwork are essential qualities for the Cook, who must work effectively with colleagues.
  • In the absence of the Certified Dietary Manager, the Cook may guide dietary aides and other staff members as needed.
  • Strong communication skills in English are required, including the ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.
  • The Cook must adhere to scheduled timelines for meal preparation and serving.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment is a critical responsibility.
  • A foundational understanding of nutrition is necessary.
  • The Cook should be able to interpret and apply food tray card requirements accurately.
  • Knowledge of large-scale food production, serving techniques, and food safety/sanitation protocols is essential.
  • Positive interaction with residents, staff, and visitors is expected.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in culinary roles within healthcare settings is advantageous.
