Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Welding Engineer to join our team at Orion Talent. As a Welding Engineer, you will be responsible for developing welding techniques and procedures for all welding applications and/or qualifications. You will also oversee the metallurgical laboratory and manage the technical requirements and welding activities to comply with both Military Welding Standard NAVSEA and Boiler Pressure Vessel Code ASME Section IX.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop new welding procedures and oversee performance and evaluation of weld qualifications
• Obtain required customer approvals of procedures and qualifications
• Interact and provide technical support to welding production personnel
• Investigate and evaluate welding defects to determine appropriate cause(s) and corrective action(s)
• Primary technical interface with customers and vendors on welding issues
• Evaluate and implement use of new welding technology
• Selects and recommends new welding equipment
• Oversees procurements and installations of new equipment
• Develops welding procedures and training of personnel for the utilization of new equipment
• Coordinates and provides Contract/Sales and/or Project Engineering with both welding plans and production welding estimates, including recommendations for new equipment, as applicable

Requirements:

The ideal candidate possesses Nuclear MM welding training or is a civilian with an Engineering degree and a diversified background in welding (to a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a welding application engineer in a manufacturing environment with Oxyacetylene Hardsurfacing, PTA, GTA x-ray quality structure and seal welding as well as LASER and electron beam welding. You should also understand ASME IX and strength in engineering metallurgy of material properties, material specifications, pre and post heat-treatment requirements, brazing as well as knowledge of critical weld joints and hard surfacing deposits.

Nice to Haves:

Experience in GTAW, PTA, and Oxyacetylene, and Welding Automation desired
