Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Safety Investigator to join our team at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. As a Public Safety Investigator, you will be responsible for investigating and determining the scope, timing, and direction of crime and fraud investigations. You will support all security functions to maintain a safe and secure environment, and be responsible for the safe de-escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and determine the scope, timing, and direction of crime and fraud investigations
  • Support all security functions to maintain a safe and secure environment
  • Responsible for the safe de-escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects
  • Obtain and verify evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses or by analyzing records
  • Identify case issues and evidence needed, based on analysis of charges, complaints, or allegations of policy/law violations
  • Record evidence and documents, using equipment such as cameras, photocopy machines, electronic medical records, access control systems, etc.
  • Testify in criminal justice proceedings concerning criminal activity investigations
  • Conduct other Security related functions as required by the chain of command
Requirements
  • Four (4) years general security, military or other public safety experience required with two (2) years of investigative experience required
  • High School Diploma required
  • Preferred Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a related job that was required to actively carry a firearm in the regular course of duty preferred
  • Required to pass psychological screening during pre-employment screening
  • Required to take periodic call
  • Required to travel up to 50% of time to Piedmont Facilities across the System
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (IAHSS) & Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (IAHSS) required within one year of hire date
  • Professional Certified Investigator (ASIS) required within two years of hire date
  • Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (IAHSS) preferred
  • BS/ BA in healthcare management/ business administration, criminal justice, or other related fields preferred
  • Active Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification preferred
