Job Summary:

As a Senior Diagnostic Medical Sonographer II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients. Under indirect supervision, you will perform a variety of diagnostic medical sonography exams, utilizing complex ultrasound equipment and transducers. Your expertise will be essential in providing accurate and timely results, ensuring the best possible patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare teams.
    • Respond to patient inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
    • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Diagnostic Imaging:
    • Perform diagnostic medical sonography exams, including abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts exams.
    • Utilize advanced ultrasound equipment and transducers to obtain high-quality images.
    • Interpret and report exam results accurately and efficiently.
  • Quality and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental policies.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
    • Report any safety concerns or incidents to management promptly.
  • Communication and Teamwork:
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
    • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
    • Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and new technologies.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited ultrasound program or a graduate from a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with two (2) years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Abdomen from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center.
  • Experience with Acuson Sequoia, Philips iu-22 and Clickview ultrasound reporting package.
