Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound imaging and therapeutic services to support the Radiology Department's mission to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and perform imaging procedures to produce sonographic medical images for diagnosis or treatment of patients.
  • Review physician requests for information on procedures to be performed for each patient and refer any questions to the sonologist or referring physician.
  • Produce images of optimal quality and maintain confidentiality of all Protected Health Information.
  • Educate patients regarding sonographic procedures and promote a team approach to providing Radiology services.
  • Engage in problem-solving, crisis management, and systems implementation to promote efficient, high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
Requirements
  • Completion of a C.A.H.E.P. or comparable accredited training program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
  • Preferred qualifications include ARRT certification in Radiology and registration by the ARDMS or ARRT with certification in one specialty.
Working Environment

The work environment is a clinical setting, and the successful candidate must be able to differentiate various shades of gray, stand and walk for six to seven hours a day, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds of weight, and push an ultrasound machine for portable exams.
