Job SummaryUnder the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN), the Patient Care Tech will assist in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out patient care plans as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, per established guidelines.
- Assist with patient general care, such as positioning, lifting, and turning, and using adaptive and transfer equipment per established guidelines.
- Perform patient monitoring activities, such as vital signs and blood glucose, per established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Perform patient rounds regularly and respond promptly to call lights to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient rooms to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Collect and label specimens according to established procedures.
- Mentor and teach new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, unless the candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care is required.
- Preferred qualifications include enrollment in a nursing, pre-med, or physician assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire, or possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a nursing assistant, medical assistant, mental health technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire.
The Patient Care Tech will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands requiring fine motor skills and sense of touch, move/rotate/bend wrists, type/use a keyboard or other data entry device, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladder or other equipment, drive/operate a motor vehicle, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl, speak, hear, taste, smell, and touch.
