Account Manager - Employee Benefits

The Account Manager - Employee Benefits is a key member of our team, responsible for delivering exceptional service to clients while supporting the Group Benefit Consultant on their assigned book of business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Benefit Consultant in managing the renewal process for all clients, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with client contacts, including executives and human resource representatives, to understand their needs and objectives.
  • Prepare and host open enrollment meetings, leveraging video conferencing or in-person interactions as needed, to educate clients on benefit plans and options.
  • Arrange client-facing meetings to discuss key topics, such as renewal processes, compliance updates, and healthcare reform insights.
  • Address client and employee inquiries regarding benefit plans, including enrollment or billing issues, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with the carrier community, staying informed about product trends, plan design, and underwriting methodologies to provide expert guidance to clients.
  • Develop expertise in employee benefits through professional development activities, including webinars, seminars, and industry-related designations, to stay ahead of industry developments.
  • Stay up-to-date on compliance, regulatory issues, and federal laws impacting employee benefits, ensuring our clients receive the best possible advice.
  • Document activities in our CRM system and follow established renewal and onboarding processes to ensure seamless client experiences.
  • Take a proactive service approach, collaborating with the Account Manager team to share best practices and deliver exceptional client service.
  • Escalate employee-level issues as needed, providing timely and effective resolutions.
Requirements:
  • Partial remote work arrangement with an expectation of 3-4 business days in the office per week.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, or a minimum of five years of experience in the employee benefits industry.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • 3-5 years of experience and knowledge of insurance carriers and employee benefits.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active license in Life and Health.
  • Experience with Employee Navigator or Online Benefit Administration.
  • Experience with Docusign.
Work Environment:

This role operates in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position with core days and hours of work being Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Occasional nights and weekends may be required to meet client needs.

Travel:

Occasional in-state travel will be required, with very limited out-of-state travel possible for client meetings or training.
