Job DescriptionThe position of Chief Technical Operations Director at APEX Controls, LLC focuses on the development and utilization of the engineering staff, along with the oversight of multiple projects. This role reports directly to the Director of Engineering.
This senior leadership position requires a strong leader who can effectively manage teams, foster partnerships with customers, and oversee project management responsibilities.
- Managing People:
- Actively engage engineers assigned to their team, building relationships and trust
- Be visible and available to meet the needs of their team, exercising authority when necessary
- Identify opportunities for development and conduct annual performance reviews
- Support the growth and development of the entire engineering staff through leadership, mentoring, and training
- Assign and allocate resources to projects, making wage recommendations and participating in full engineering team discussions
- Managing Customers:
- Actively engage customers to build partnering relationships, establishing trust and meeting their needs
- Work collaboratively with the sales team to conceptualize projects, assess costs, and align available resources
- Provide a safe buffer for customers to discuss project concerns and work towards mutually beneficial solutions
- Managing Projects:
- Oversee project management responsibilities, including monitoring performance and providing post-project summaries
- Adjust projected hours and costs for active projects on a weekly and monthly basis
- Notify accounting of invoicing requirements when project milestones are reached
- Collaborate with the Electrical Operations Manager to coordinate project requirements and scheduling
Responsibilities at Apex:
- Work with Human Resources in recruiting and hiring new engineers
- Participate in various committees, such as Safety, Standards, and Mentoring
- Contribute to growing business opportunities, identifying key areas for growth and assessing risk
- Partner with key suppliers and lead with honesty and integrity
Requirements:
- Proven experience in project leadership and excellent communication skills
- Thorough understanding of automation processes and engineering principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to collect and synthesize relevant data
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to analyze information systematically and transform abstract concepts into concrete solutions
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field or five-plus years of related experience is required
