Avionics Systems Lead

Astrolab is seeking a highly skilled Avionics Systems Lead to oversee the development and deployment of reliable avionics solutions for our FLEX Rover mission. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for meeting program commitments, recruiting and leading a talented team, and overseeing cost management and scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement avionics systems for the FLEX Rover, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery while achieving technical targets
- Lead a team of engineers in the design, development, and testing of avionics systems
- Oversee cost management and scheduling within the allocated budget and provide budget forecasts for corporate and program planning
- Formulate program and technical strategies, including decisions on make/buy, risk management, and supplier selection
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure the smooth execution of each team's objectives
- Guide the team through milestone reviews, ensuring technical and programmatic success
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in STEM from an accredited institution
- 7+ years' of experience in aerospace system development, integration, and testing
- Proven track record of delivering spaceflight hardware through the full design life cycle
- Strong understanding of radiation effects on spaceflight electronics
- Past or current experience using Altium, E3, and Siemens NX or equivalent design programs
- Past or current experience with instrumentation and sensors, including DMMs, DAQ, function generators, oscilloscopes, DIO, GPIB, USB, RS-232/422/485, GigE, SPI, etc.
- Ability to lead in a dynamic and flexible environment
- Must be able to communicate complex technical subjects to a variety of audiences succinctly
