Key Responsibilities
  • Measure and record patient vital signs
  • Record patient interview and medical history
  • Catalog and communicate patient needs to healthcare professionals
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests
  • Assist physicians with exams and explain treatment procedures to patients
  • Observe patients and report any changes in patient conditions to healthcare professionals
  • Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures under physician supervision
  • Collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens and perform basic waived lab tests
  • Prepare and administer medications, change dressings, and apply bandages
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, and sterilize instruments
  • Practice OSHA safety standards and maintain accurate, legal, and ethical documentation
  • Process patient phone messages and return calls to other team members
  • Call patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for physicians
  • Provide health coaching to patients to support healthy lifestyle choices
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training
  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or similar in a hospital, medical clinic, or comparable environment
  • EMR system experience preferred
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment
