Job Title: Registered Nurse CT Scan

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the CT Scan department. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our medical center.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse CT Scan will be responsible for evaluating, assessing, and documenting patient hemodynamic responses to therapeutic interventions. You will also monitor, evaluate, and intervene appropriately with patients receiving conscious sedation. Additionally, you will accurately transcribe, review, and carry out physician orders, assess and reassess patients as per hospital policy, and demonstrate appropriate safety measures to prevent radiation exposure and flammable chemicals.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and assess patient hemodynamic responses to therapeutic interventions.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient responses to conscious sedation.
  • Accurately transcribe, review, and carry out physician orders.
  • Assess and reassess patients as per hospital policy.
  • Demonstrate appropriate safety measures to prevent radiation exposure and flammable chemicals.
  • Insert peripheral intravenous catheters.
  • Perform and document vital signs and initial assessments.
  • Respond to diagnostic data and initiate appropriate action or intervention.
  • Assess patient education needs prior to procedures.
  • Interact with patients according to age-specific development.
  • Initiate a plan of care upon assessment.
  • Establish priorities for patient care based on patient needs.
  • Verbalize understanding of patient diagnosis and medical plan of care.
  • Safely and correctly initiate and document nursing interventions in emergency situations.
  • Administer and document intravenous therapy.
  • Administer medications as ordered by physician and observe and document effectiveness.
  • Provide individualized instructions to patients regarding the plan of care.
  • Demonstrate safe and correct use of unit-specific equipment.
  • Ensure patient general hygiene needs are met.
  • Perform pre-procedure and post-procedure care and instruction for assigned special procedure patients.
  • Adhere to standard precautions, including hand hygiene guidelines.
  • Document patient valuables and arrange for storage.
  • Perform dressing changes using aseptic technique.
  • Collect and label specimens as ordered by physician.
  • Perform bedside glucose monitoring.
  • Report abnormal findings to physician.
  • Insert intermittent or indwelling urinary catheters using aseptic technique.
  • Administer oxygen therapy as ordered by physician.
  • Transfer patients in/out of the unit efficiently and give report to receiving unit timely.
  • Demonstrate safe and correct use of restraints.
  • Document patient responses or outcomes resulting from nursing interventions, treatments, and patient/family education.
  • Evaluate and document patient progress towards established goals/objectives.
  • Obtain mandatory hospital and unit-specific inservice hours.
  • Plan, present, and document unit inservice as required.
  • Document competency in clinical skills annually.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Use established lines of communication for problem resolution and interpersonal conflict.
  • Ensure productivity daily by facilitating patient plan for scheduled procedures.
  • Participate in PI program by identifying PI indicators at unit level.
  • Collect PI data as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Current License in the State of Florida.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
  • One to two years of clinical experience. 6 months in a monitored and/or special patient care unit preferred. Radiology/CT experience preferred.
