About the Role:

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our team as an APN - School-Based Sickle Cell Outreach Specialist. This is a unique opportunity to work in a new SCOUTS (Sickle Cell Outreach in Schools) program, providing healthcare to patients enrolled in the program and assisting with program management.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the SCOUTS program.
  • Collaborate and communicate with school nurses, care providers, and families to develop and manage appropriate care plans.
  • Act as a clinical resource for school nurses and families, providing education and training for the healthcare team and community.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and prescribe medication for sickle-cell patients according to established guidelines and standards.
  • Participate in professional development activities and organizations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge and ensuring quality patient care.
  • Maintain clear and effective medical documentation and communication.
  • Contribute to the goals of Community Wellness, the SCOUTS program, and the Hospital Strategic Plan.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in science, health, or equivalent field, required.
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Ohio, required.
  • Maintains national certification as APRN in the appropriate population foci for the position, or PA, required.
  • Certificate to Prescribe (CTP), required.
