Position Overview:

This role seeks a proactive professional with a robust engineering foundation, capable of adapting to varied work hours (primarily Monday through Friday) and willing to undertake occasional travel. The position is highly engaging and encompasses a range of field tasks associated with assessing contaminated sites, monitoring, and remediation, alongside office responsibilities such as drafting planning and reporting documents. A comprehensive understanding of environmental legislation and regulations is essential for higher-level roles. The ideal candidate is eager to progress in their career and participate in diverse assignments, including but not limited to, sampling groundwater, soil, sediment, surface water, and air for pollutants; collecting and documenting environmental data; supervising the installation of groundwater monitoring wells; designing and managing remediation and treatment systems; utilizing global positioning systems; compiling data; and preparing work plans and field reports.

The compensation range for this position is $93,089-$115,431/year.

Key Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
  • Executing contaminated site assessments, monitoring, and remediation field evaluations safely and in line with established work plans.
  • Traveling via aircraft (jets, small planes, and helicopters), motor vehicles, ATVs, and/or watercraft to conduct fieldwork, site evaluations, or meetings.
  • Performing field screening and sampling for pollutants and environmental parameters across various media in accordance with standard operating procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Designing, installing, and managing remediation and treatment systems such as air sparge systems, soil vapor extraction systems, and water treatment systems.
  • Documenting field operations, including personnel on-site, equipment utilized, weather conditions, environmental data, and operational data through photography, clear and legible handwritten notes, and digital devices. Communicating with project managers via phones, email, and daily reports.
  • Inspecting work progress, equipment, and job sites to ensure safety and compliance with project specifications.
  • Coordinating and overseeing subcontractors.
  • Adhering to project schedules and financial objectives as outlined by project managers.
  • Assisting or leading the development of proposals, planning documents, and reports.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
Level-Specific Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to)

Level - III
  • Providing client support to program and project managers; ensuring adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Maintaining expertise in two technical areas.
  • Leading teams in executing project tasks, both in office and field settings.
  • Overseeing technical project execution and document preparation, conducting peer reviews of project documents.
  • Assisting with task order and project proposals.
  • Managing project staffing and providing technical mentorship.
  • Overseeing smaller projects involving site assessments, long-term monitoring, and similar activities.
  • Spending 20% - 40% of time on fieldwork, potentially in remote locations.
Minimum Qualifications:

All levels:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in civil, environmental, chemical, or geotechnical disciplines.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record, capable of operating a company vehicle.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and databases such as Access.
  • Skilled in articulating technical aspects of fieldwork to internal and external clients both verbally and in writing.
Level - III
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of relevant professional experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may substitute for work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in additional software such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, GIS, databases, and environmental modeling programs.
  • ADEC qualified environmental professional.
  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher certification.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification.
  • CPR/1st Aid/AED Certified.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • Experience with projects involving Federal clients.

  • Work may be conducted indoors or outdoors, with exposure to confined spaces, varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, and stooping for extended periods; dexterity required for handling tools and equipment.
  • Reaching for items at various heights, effective communication, and mobility within the project location.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, including small equipment and materials.
