Job Overview

The NC Department of Health and Human Services is seeking two Batch Operations Technicians to facilitate daily batch processing needs for NC FAST Operations and Maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

This role is essential for managing overnight batch operations, ensuring that tasks are completed outside of standard business hours. The technician will:

  • Provide operational support by executing and monitoring batch processes, verifying outcomes, and participating in nightly production environments involving multiple servers.
  • Conduct initial analysis of data interface processing exceptions, documenting issues, and escalating unresolved problems through established support channels.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to resolve errors and ensure timely solutions align with service level objectives.
  • Assist the batch monitoring team by analyzing production workflows, suggesting improvements for job scheduling, and offering rapid support during outages.
  • Work alongside the technology design team to ensure backup and recovery systems meet service level agreements for business continuity.
  • Engage with application support teams and business stakeholders to define acceptable service levels and develop incident management procedures.
Required Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 5 years of experience as a GMI Operator and Support Specialist, with the ability to monitor and manage batch processes.
  • 5 years of experience with batch operations, job scheduling, and monitoring tools.
  • Strong communication skills for updating business users and collaborating with support and development teams.
  • Experience in identifying opportunities for product and customer experience enhancement.
  • Proficiency in documenting processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Operating Systems such as Unix, Mainframe, and Windows.
  • Relational database skills, including basic SQL programming.
  • Experience executing shell scripts in UNIX or similar environments and reviewing log files.
  • Ability to manage priority issues and troubleshoot effectively with clients.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
