Rental Sales Representative Job Description

Carter Machinery Company, a leading Caterpillar dealer, is seeking a skilled Rental Sales Representative to join our team in Dulles, VA. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for promoting Caterpillar equipment and Allied product rental to customers in our assigned markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to increase rental revenue and customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless customer service and support.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, product knowledge, and competitor activity to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets and performance metrics.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience in a related industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of construction phases, job situations, and project conditions.
  • Excellent customer satisfaction skills and ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to service existing customers and prospect new customers.
  • Strong PC skills and ability to self-develop and adapt to changing technology.
  • Frequent travel required, including overnight or out-of-town trips via car or airplane.
Physical Requirements:

The Rental Sales Representative must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods, lift, carry, and maneuver items up to 20 pounds in weight. This position may require reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing beside, onto, and under heavy equipment.
