Job Overview

The Project Manager - Interior Design is responsible for leading the execution of project conceptual design, development, and quality control efforts with minimal supervision.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage interior design assignments, including conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents in collaboration with designers.
  • Lead creative vision and design, project management, and client customer service processes for commercial projects.
  • Create dynamic interior designs by conceptualizing interior creative vision using client programming to achieve desired results.
  • Develop and manage project milestones, scheduled deadlines, and project budgets.
  • Conceptualize interior architecture elements for residential model homes, sales offices, recreation centers, and multi-family amenity spaces.
  • Assist with the creation of new color schemes and themes for use on upcoming and future projects.
  • Oversee project conceptual design and presentations.
  • Design, research, specify, and document interior finishes and architectural detailing for projects.
  • Design art and accessories based on project themes and buyer profiles.
  • Strong commercial design and project management experience in multi-family products, including ADA compliance expertise.
  • Serve as a liaison between Within Design leadership, design team, client, consultant, and construction trades.
  • Ability to create dynamic interior designs by conceptualizing interior creative vision using client programming to achieve desired results.
  • FF&E design and resources, with a solid understanding of custom fabrication and workroom processes.
  • Research, specify, price, and document furnishings, fabrics, drapery, wallpaper, etc., and provide detailed documentation for the purchasing department.
  • Attend project installations, which may include travel in and out of town.
  • Successful track record of leading a small team while working quickly and efficiently within project timelines.
  • Project site coordination and ability to work directly with construction trades, to include: RFI's, management, and approval of the submittal process, etc.
  • Apply critical, big-picture thinking to scheduling and forecasting assigned projects, team performance, and profitability of each project.
  • Assist in ensuring continuity between Design and Operations teams.

Requirements:

● Bachelor's degree with emphasis in interior design and/or architecture.

● Minimum 5 years' experience in interior design.

● Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment with excellent customer service skills.

● Strong communication and active listening skills.

● Critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify appropriate solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

● Judgment and decision making, considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

● Strong portfolio of work demonstrating creative design concepts, design development visualization skills, and strategic thinking.

● Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate ideas/suggestions and creative design solutions with clients and design team.

● Self-Starter with the ability to initiate project goals, define and manage processes, and measure achievements.

● Excellent negotiating skills promoting a 'win-win' spirit.

● Proven expertise in Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Photoshop, etc.
