Position Summary: The Speech-Language Pathologist will deliver extensive speech and language interventions to students within the educational framework. This role encompasses evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders while collaborating with educators, families, and other professionals to enhance each student's learning and growth.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation and Diagnosis: Perform comprehensive assessments of students' speech and language capabilities through standardized assessments, observations, and interviews. Identify communication disorders and establish eligibility for intervention services.
  • Personalized Treatment: Create and execute tailored education plans (IEPs) and therapy strategies based on evaluation outcomes. Provide direct therapeutic services to students facing communication challenges.
  • Collaboration: Partner with educators, special education teams, and families to facilitate students' academic objectives. Advise on methods to incorporate speech and language targets within the classroom setting.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure meticulous documentation of student progress, therapy sessions, and evaluation findings. Prepare reports for educational meetings and share insights with families and school staff.
  • Professional Growth: Keep abreast of the latest developments in speech-language pathology and special education. Engage in continuous professional learning and training opportunities.
  • Advocacy: Champion students' needs and guarantee they receive suitable accommodations and modifications to foster their educational and communicative development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Active Illinois state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred, or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience: Previous experience in an educational environment is preferred, with familiarity in IEP development and execution being advantageous.
  • Skills: Exceptional diagnostic and therapeutic abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of professionals and families.
