Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Memorial Hermann Health System. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality patient care, including vital signs, temperature, pulse, height, weight, and blood pressure measurements.
  • Review patient charts, obtain and record vital signs, and use the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Direct patients to examination rooms, assist providers with patient examinations, and prepare patients for procedures.
  • Operate and monitor medical equipment, hand instruments to providers, and conduct hearing, vision, breathing, and EKG testing.
  • Administer medications, perform venipuncture, collect urine specimens, and complete lab tests according to policies and procedures.
  • Recognize emergency situations, seek assistance, and intervene appropriately.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; graduation from a Medical Assistant program or eligibility for certification by a recognized medical association.
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required within 12 months of hire.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Six (6) months of medical assistant experience required or completion of a medical assistant externship.
Working Conditions

This role requires working primarily a pre-determined schedule but occasional requirements to work evenings or weekends depending on patient care needs may exist. Ability to float to other clinic practices as needed is an expectation.
