Your Role and Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Southeast Region Port Operations for the Navy. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks related to the effective operation and maintenance of our vessels.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Safe operation and upkeep of all ship machinery as directed
  • Preservation of hull, deck, and superstructure
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Operation of various deck equipment
  • Small boat handling
  • Securing deck and project equipment
  • Standing designated watches

You will assist in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, crew, and passengers under the guidance of ship's officers. This includes routine maintenance and repairs of shipboard systems, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must qualify for ordinance handling certification and possess a Merchant Mariner's Document. A minimum of two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of diesel-powered vessels over 500 HP, or three years in a related field, or one year of general work experience combined with relevant technical training is necessary.
