Job Overview

The position of a Manager in Ubuntu Enablement Project Management at Canonical involves overseeing the delivery of innovative technology solutions aimed at addressing significant global challenges. Your responsibilities will include managing a diverse team of project managers, ensuring effective integration of Ubuntu with various hardware, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a distributed team of project managers, focusing on performance enhancement.
  • Implement industry-leading project management methodologies.
  • Evaluate and optimize project management tools and processes.
  • Conduct resource capacity planning and identify solutions for efficient team utilization.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for project reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle common project challenges.
  • Enhance execution quality through ongoing feedback and improvements.
  • Engage with customers to gather feedback and address concerns.
  • Develop team members through coaching and training initiatives.
  • Act as a primary escalation point for critical project issues.
  • Advise company leadership and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure customer success.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in leading remote project teams within a technology environment.
  • Experience managing cross-cultural and multi-regional projects.
  • Strong background in software engineering project management.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering technology projects to device manufacturers.
  • Ability to navigate complex challenges while managing risks effectively.
  • Experience in building collaborative partnerships both internally and externally.
  • Strong negotiation skills, particularly in customer-facing roles.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project needs.
  • Flexibility to accommodate non-standard working hours when necessary.
  • Relevant project management certifications (PMP/PMI, PRINCE2, Agile).
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with hardware enablement under Linux and commercial software delivery.
  • Familiarity with the open-source software community.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and IoT software development.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in the automotive sector, particularly in functional safety and embedded systems.
