Role Overview

POSITION PURPOSE:

Under the general guidance of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor operates independently while regularly collaborating with division and corporate staff, contractors, customers, and suppliers.

This role supports leadership and maintenance teams by serving as a liaison in matters related to policy implementation, employee relations, and ongoing process improvement.

This position entails direct and/or indirect leadership responsibilities.

Your Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee the coordination and assignment of all tasks associated with maintenance and facility operations, ensuring compliance with timing schedules and trade regulations.

Direct and allocate work within their area of responsibility.
Adhere to all Health and Safety protocols in line with OSHA standards. Ensure that company procedures regarding safety regulations are strictly followed.
Observe, comprehend, instruct, coach, and mentor direct reports to enhance their knowledge, skills, and succession planning.
Maintain accurate documentation of processes, equipment, systems, employee relations issues, investigations, etc.
Manage payroll activities for employees.
Ensure that employees receive necessary training or certification and participate in training programs as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate preventative and predictive maintenance with the technical maintenance team and production planning.
Support daily/weekly/monthly PM assignments, conduct follow-ups, and monitor the PM schedule.
Hold daily communication meetings with maintenance staff.
Assist with repair, modification, and installation tasks alongside other maintenance personnel.
Participate in manpower planning, overtime scheduling, and assist with capacity planning to meet future objectives.

Uphold safety standards for equipment and work areas, performing all duties in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA and Magna's safety policies.

Regularly review scoreboards to identify issues, ensuring maintenance provides support to production team members; respond to Andon alerts as per the escalation process, as needed.

Monitor and share KPI results with employees to promote continuous improvement. KPI's are tracked through daily methods.

KPI results are reviewed consistently using various means, including pre-shift and departmental meetings, postings, and one-on-one discussions.

Plan and direct the effective utilization of all equipment and manpower to achieve optimal results. Ensure manpower and equipment utilization meets or exceeds expected targets.
Assist in developing procedures and methods that enhance Safety, Quality, Timing, Cost, and Motivation.
Assume the responsibilities of the Maintenance/Facilities Manager in their absence.
Manage the Maintenance Reliability Program, ensuring data is accurately entered and maintained in the system. Utilize data to inform proactive actions.
Order materials necessary for repair, modification, installation, and maintenance of equipment, adhering to Magna's Purchasing Policy.
Participate in quotations and follow-ups related to new projects.
Support the budget planning process and take responsibility for meeting financial targets.
Effectively build and nurture high-performing teams by fostering collaboration within the department.
Conduct and/or ensure that all non-conformances to company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are addressed with appropriate corrective actions.
Ensure fairness to direct reports and encourage participation in the Open Door Resolution Process for employee relations issues.
Ensure suppliers operate safely while in the company's work areas/zones when applicable.

Who We Are Looking For

Your Preferred Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of facilities (e.g., chillers, HVAC, compressors, etc.)
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an automated manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
Strong mathematical skills with the ability to apply them to cost analysis and data interpretation.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and tact.
Attention to detail and exceptional planning and organizational abilities.
Must be able to interact effectively with team members.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The maintenance supervisor operates in a manufacturing plant environment and may encounter elements such as temperature variations and noise.

Some physical demands of this role include prolonged sitting, walking up and down stairs, occasional lifting, and occasional stooping and bending.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a variable workload (flexible hours). Travel and overtime may be necessary to meet customer expectations.

TOOLS USED:
Common tools and equipment include computers, telephones, fax machines, copiers/printers, and projectors.

KNOWLEDGE:
Extensive knowledge in Robotics (Fanuc), PLC (Allen Bradley), and electrical systems.
Strong understanding of mechanical and machining processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing operation systems (ERP, MES, Preventive Maintenance, etc.).

EDUCATION:

Completion of a college or university degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field; or Certification of Qualification for Electrical/Millwright/Tool & Die; or equivalent work-related experience.


WORK EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in automotive manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS OR ABILITIES:

Familiarity with the following applications:

Fanuc Robotics, Allen Bradley PLCs, MFDC weld controllers (Bosch), MIG & Spot welding, Adhesive dispensing systems (Nordson), electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, conveyors, vision systems, Microsoft Office, EMaint, Ignition, Outlook, ADP, etc.


OTHER:
A valid driver's license and passport are required for travel.
