Overview

The Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation and distribution of medications and pharmaceutical products. This role necessitates expertise in managing and delegating tasks to team members. The Supervisor plays a crucial role in fulfilling the mission of delivering compassionate care to all patients served by Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Interprets and profiles prescriptions for intravenous therapies within the Hospital Information System/Pharmacy Information System.
  2. Oversees and verifies all operations conducted by Certified Pharmacy Technicians. Reviews physician prescriptions for accuracy before distribution to care units.
  3. Offers guidance to physicians and healthcare staff regarding the availability of new medications, safety warnings for existing drugs, and other critical information necessary for the safe administration of pharmaceuticals.
  4. Employs sound judgment to prioritize actions based on service demands while adhering to safety protocols to mitigate adverse events during job performance.
  5. Commits to personal professional development through relevant educational opportunities and fosters the professional growth of department colleagues by sharing essential information.
  6. Evaluates all prescriptions for clinical suitability and recommends adjustments in medications based on renal and hepatic function, potential drug interactions, or contraindications. Ensures that these interventions are properly documented.
Qualifications

Graduate of an Accredited College of Pharmacy.

Licensure/Certifications Required

Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, licensed in the state of Texas, and certification in Sterile IV preparation.
