Job Overview

Position Title: Machine Operator Level II
Department: Cheese Production

Role Summary: The Machine Operator Level II is responsible for effectively operating various machinery while adhering to established safety protocols and operational guidelines. This role requires collaboration with the production team and encompasses the operation of both Level I and Level II machinery.

Supervisory Duties: This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Punctually report to the designated workstation and wear appropriate safety attire.
  • Prepare the work area by ensuring all machinery is correctly assembled.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and general safety regulations.
  • Load plastic bottles and caps into machine hoppers.
  • Provide sleeve rolls to machinery and confirm correct placement on bottles.
  • Inspect the quality of kefir plastic bottles and caps.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure that filled or packaged products meet quality standards.
  • Operate sleeve printers accurately, ensuring the correct display of information such as expiration dates and plant numbers.
  • Correct any discrepancies in information displayed by the printer.
  • Adjust machine flow, speed, and temperature as necessary.
  • Address machine malfunctions, clear jams, and report issues to a supervisor.
  • Oversee the production line, identifying and resolving issues such as bottlenecks or jams.
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging materials.
  • Organize finished packaged items in crates and wrap pallets for protection.
  • Restock and organize products for packaging or filling operations and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Clean packaging containers, filler lines, and disassemble machinery as required.
  • Complete all assigned production tasks with accuracy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to actively listen to instructions and comprehend basic English.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to remain on feet for an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to climb ladders and navigate equipment.
  • Capability to assemble multiple machines.
  • Ensure the quality of products, including cheese, tubs, and lids.
