Job Summary:
The Mental Health Crisis Support Specialist will provide peer support services for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis at the Wellness Recovery Center (WRC). The incumbent will use their personal life experience to coach and support consumers in the WRC program, working collaboratively with the WRC clinical team, case managers, nursing staff, and other agency and community providers.
Responsibilities:
- Provide peer support services to consumers in the WRC program
- Work collaboratively with the WRC clinical team, case managers, nursing staff, and other agency and community providers
- Use personal life experience to coach and support consumers in the WRC program
- Perform CPR/First Aid intervention as needed
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Personal experience in recovery
- Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist (required within 1 year of employment)
- Valid Virginia driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Current certificate of personal automobile insurance
Working Conditions:
The Mental Health Crisis Support Specialist will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, providing support to individuals in crisis. The incumbent must be able to establish rapport with individuals in crisis and their families, maintain effective working relationships with representatives of numerous professions, and work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and professionals.

Grade:
8 (without Peer Recovery Specialist certification); 9 (with Peer Recovery Specialist certification)
Schedule:
40 hours weekly; variable shifts; evenings and weekends needed
