We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Meat Department Manager to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the meat department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving sales and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Provide a high level of customer service to members, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
- Respond to member inquiries and provide recommendations on meat products.
- Department Management
- Manage the meat department operations, including scheduling, inventory management, and merchandising.
- Supervise and train team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to provide exceptional customer service.
- Inventory Management
- Receive and inspect meat shipments, ensuring quality and freshness.
- Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize waste.
- Financial Management
- Meet or exceed sales and profit goals for the meat department.
- Monitor and control department expenses, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Leadership and Development
- Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance team member skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; formal food service vocational education or knowledge as a qualified journeyman meat cutter preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a meat department management role, preferably in a wholesale or retail environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on providing exceptional member experiences.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Working Conditions
- Work in a refrigerated environment, with frequent exposure to cleaning agents and potential lifting of heavy objects.
- Ability to stand for long periods, with frequent reaching and bending.
