Job Description
As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and development of electric transmission systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful completion of Long Island Transmission & Distribution construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and evaluate the design of electric transmission systems and related facilities based upon reliability and economy.
  • Develop material, engineering design, construction specifications/associated drawings, and standards as required for successful completion of assigned projects.
  • Participate in Research & Development initiatives, evaluate and procure new materials/equipment to improve performance of the electric transmission system.
  • Work with internal and external organizations/customers to ensure prudent engineering solutions are undertaken to special engineering and construction projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering college. A Professional Engineer License and/or one of the following advance degrees: Masters Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from ATBE Accredited University, Masters of Business Administration or Energy Management or Advanced Degree (e.g.Economics, Computer Science, 2nd Engineering) is also required.
In addition, you will need to have proven Subject matter expert in formal industry recognized role (e.g. Designated NERC Audit SME, Participation in Litigation as an Expert Witness, Chairman or Formal Leadership Role in Industry Stakeholder Group, and/or Formal Leadership in IEEE/Standards Working Groups NERC, NPCC, NYSRC, NYISO- minimum 1 year in position). Six or more years of experience in structural analysis, reinforced concrete, structural steel and soil mechanics. Experience with marine structures is required.
