Job Summary

Concentra Career Choice is seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our patient care team. As a vital member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medical Testing and Procedures: Perform routine medical and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician, including DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing.
  • Assisting Providers: Assist providers during examination and treatment, and perform routine medical procedures as ordered by the treating clinician.
  • Emergency Response: Triage emergent patients as needed and prepare and assist clinicians with procedure setup and injury care.
  • Supply Management: Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping.
  • Communication: Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected.
  • Teamwork: In partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volume, and keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit.
  • Clerical Tasks: Perform front office duties, including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, checking in/out, communicating wait times, and answering multi-line telephone system.
  • Documentation: Ensure accuracy in documentation and follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with completion of an externship highly preferred, or at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant, or military medical specialist experience (must meet credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations).
  • Experience: Customarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experience, knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology, and working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred.
  • Skills: Concentra Core Competencies of Service Mentality, Attention to Detail, Sense of Urgency, Initiative, and Flexibility, ability to make decisions or solve problems by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions, outstanding customer service skills, and ability to deal with people in a manner which shows tact and professionalism.
