Operating Room Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Intermountain Healthcare. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our surgical operations by providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical staff.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of surgical equipment and supplies, ensuring a sterile and safe environment for patients.
- Provide technical support to surgeons and medical staff during surgical procedures, including passing instruments and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Participate in the counting and verification of surgical instruments and supplies to ensure accuracy and prevent errors.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth and efficient surgical operations, including timely turnover of rooms and preparation for the next procedure.
- Support the maintenance of a clean and safe environment, including the handling and disposal of biohazardous materials and sharps.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; graduation from a formal surgical technologist program is preferred.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (TS-C) or NBSTSA certification is required.
- Registered in the state of practice as a Surgical Technologist is required.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification is required.
- 1 year of experience in an operating room setting is preferred.
- 1 year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital is preferred.
This role requires regular attendance and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The employee must be able to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs. The employee must also be able to verbally communicate and hear and understand spoken information, alarms, and needs quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity is required to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. The employee must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients and handle supplies and equipment. The employee must also be able to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
