Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education to join our faculty at the University of New Hampshire. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mathematics and mathematics education, with a focus on elementary and middle school mathematics education. The position involves teaching mathematics content and pedagogy courses for pre-service teachers, teaching doctoral level mathematics education courses, and teaching undergraduate mathematics courses for majors and non-majors. The candidate will also be responsible for developing a successful research program, advising undergraduate and graduate students, and providing service to the department and profession.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach mathematics content and pedagogy courses for pre-service teachers, including elementary and middle school mathematics education
• Teach doctoral level mathematics education courses and undergraduate mathematics courses for majors and non-majors
• Develop a successful research program in mathematics education, including collaborative work with colleagues and graduate students and active pursuit of external funding
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students in mathematics education, including completion of dissertation studies
• Provide service to the department, college, and profession through committee work and engagement with external partners

Requirements

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in mathematics education or a closely related field, with a strong background in mathematics. Some postdoctoral training is preferred. We are particularly interested in scholars with a focus on elementary and middle school mathematics education to balance the research and teaching expertise of current faculty. A range of methodological expertise is valued. We seek applicants who have a commitment to high quality teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates should present strong evidence of developing research, and high potential for conducting research and other scholarly activities in mathematics education.
