Mathematics Education Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education to join our faculty at the University of New Hampshire. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mathematics and mathematics education, with a focus on elementary and middle school mathematics education. The position involves teaching mathematics content and pedagogy courses, advising undergraduate and graduate students, and developing a successful research program. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to high-quality teaching, mentoring, and research in mathematics education.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the position include:
- Teaching mathematics content and pedagogy courses for elementary, middle, and high school pre-service teachers, teaching doctoral level mathematics education courses, and teaching undergraduate mathematics courses for majors and non-majors.
- Advising undergraduate majors in mathematics education, and advising graduate students in mathematics education through the completion of their dissertation studies.
- Developing a successful research program that includes collaborative work with colleagues and graduate students and active pursuit of external funding to support research activities.
- Providing service to the department, college, and profession through committee work and engagement with external partners.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in mathematics education or a closely related field, along with a strong background in mathematics. Some postdoctoral training is preferred. We are particularly interested in scholars with a focus on elementary and middle school mathematics education to balance the research and teaching expertise of current faculty. A range of methodological expertise is valued. We seek applicants who have a commitment to high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates should present strong evidence of developing research, and high potential for conducting research and other scholarly activities in mathematics education.
