Southern California Edison (SCE) is seeking an Electrical Control Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the safe and reliable operations of our Distributed Control Systems (DCS). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, improvement, and upgrade of our DCS systems, ensuring seamless integration with our Power Generation and Water & Gas systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and perform sophisticated DCS maintenance and improvement activities, including major logic and design changes, patching, programming, device management, configuration changes, and system integration.
  • Resolve minor and/or sophisticated incidents and issues involving control system hardware and software, demonstrating industry and technical experience with DCS and power plant operations.
  • Provide recommendations on potential improvements to control systems, which can improve and/or provide efficiencies to power plant operations.
  • Actively participate in establishing and completing projects within the Generation portfolio, including prioritization, planning, design, execution, testing, and deployment of various control system technologies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Five or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with programming and managing Ovation DCS, GE Mark platforms, Woodward, Rockwell solutions, and/or other major DCS technology platforms.
  • Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power System Engineering, or Power Plant Engineering expertise.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), Remote Intelligent Gateways (RIG's), Water SCADA, Burner Management System (BMS), and other control system platforms.
  • Experience working with heavy-duty gas/steam turbines and aero-derivative turbines.
  • Ability to self-start, be proactive, take initiative, be resilient, tackle challenges, and rise to them.
  • Experience integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) for control systems.
  • Experience with department planning and budgeting.
  • Flexibility in approach, strong customer service, and ability to travel.
  • Ability to present in front of a group, lead, and optimally manage meetings.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
