The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing a designated group of participants, ensuring a favorable student-to-staff ratio in accordance with established guidelines. This role serves as a positive adult figure, mentor, and coach to the students.
The Coordinator must demonstrate a sincere commitment to fostering the growth and development of students while providing a secure and nurturing environment.
Establishing authority and building connections through effective leadership, communication, and patience are essential for creating the supportive atmosphere that students require to thrive.
The commitment to helping participants reach their full potential demands considerable effort, adaptability, and dedication.Responsibilities:
Assist with homework, provide academic enrichment, and facilitate physical activities using the curriculum and resources provided by the program.
Create an inviting environment that encourages a sense of belonging for all participants.
Guide students in making constructive behavior choices and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
Engage youth by adhering to, implementing, and contributing to lesson plans.
Ensure participant safety by assisting with setup, cleanup, and ongoing maintenance to keep the facility orderly.
Maintain participant safety by taking attendance and reviewing sign-in/sign-out procedures for students and volunteers.
Identify participant needs and communicate effectively with the Site Coordinator, educators, school administration, parents, and volunteers as needed.
Commit to a full-year program by consistently arriving on time and accurately completing time records.
Participate in professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
Experience working with young individuals and the ability to inspire and motivate them.
Proof of high school graduation or G.E.D. is required;
Additionally, 48 college semester units or 60 college quarter units are required, or passing an Instructional Aide Test (in some districts)
Ability to communicate effectively in standard English appropriate for a public school environment.
Background Checks/Testing:
Must successfully complete a Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting)
Provide a clear TB test
Pass Advanced Math and English skills (K–8) testing
